I am a son of California. I was born in what is now the Inland Empire, the son and grandson of California natives. I have lived all over the state, from the Salinas Valley to Sacramento, and from the Silicon Valley to the Mexican border. I learned to surf in the cold waters of Monterey Bay and on the Central Coast but now surf mostly in North San Diego County. I care deeply for the ocean and the coast. I completed my undergraduate and graduate work at San Diego State. My area of interest is American constitutional history. Both surfing and history inform much of my life.
I am blessed with a wonderful and beautiful wife who is also a child of California. I have four children and one granddaughter.
We live in a 70's house, that we bought as a five year project nine years ago. My wife and I love (most of the time) to do home improvement projects on our house and tend our garden. We love hybrid tea roses. The high petal count varieties grow great in this area. We both have past lives as bakers and I was at one point an executive chef. As such, we love to cook and bake as much as possible. My wife is a very good photographer and most of the pictures on this site will come from her.
The land of the SUV is the area around southeastern Escondido. We live in an area where the schools are good, the garbage gets picked up, the streets swept and the parks are nice. And yes, all of the kids are above average. In short, we are blessed.
